/ist/Tabanan Sends Pigs to Jakarta with Profits Up to Rp 10 Billion.
Tabanan’s farmers will routinely send pigs to Jakarta. The sales are made by the Regional Company of Dharma Santika (PDDS), which collaborates with the Regional Owned Enterprises of PD Dharma Jaya DKI Jakarta.
The first shipment was carried out on Friday (24/2) with 80 pigs released directly by the Regent of Tabanan, Komang Gede Sanjaya in Banjar Poh Gending, Pitra Village, Penebel District.
“The shipping schedule is twice a month, so the monthly quota for sending pigs to Jakarta is 150 pigs,” he said.
Regent Sanjaya estimated that with the shipment of 150 pigs per month, Tabanan will send 1,920 pigs per year with an average weight of 95 kilograms per pig, and a selling price of up to Rp 45,000 per kilogram of live pig meat.
The Tabanan District Government has the potential to increase local revenue by up to Rp 10 billion per year, from sending pigs and other agricultural/livestock products.
“In addition to pigs, we also send eggs, chickens, and goats, and it is possible that other agricultural products will be sent in the future,” he explained.
The Head of the Tabanan Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Office, I Made Subagia, said that the pigs sent to Jakarta had undergone testing and were declared free from African Swine Fever (ASF).
“Indeed, until now there is no ASF vaccine, but we ensure that the pigs we send are healthy,” he said.
