The number of passengers at Lombok Airport increased by 15.4 percent during the World Superbike (WSBK) 2023 motorcycle racing event, held at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara last weekend.

The number of passengers who arrived and departed from Lombok Airport during the week of the WSBK event on 1-6 March 2023 amounted to 39,450 passengers, or an average of 6,575 passengers per day.

“This figure increased by 15.4 percent compared to passenger movement in February 2023, which averaged 5,700 passengers per day. While, if compared to the WSBK 2022 event period, which recorded an average of 6,120 passengers per day, there was an 8 percent increase in the movement of passengers,” said General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok Airport Rahmat Adil Indrawan on Tuesday (7/3).

The peak of passenger arrivals during the WSBK 2023 event happened on Wednesday, 1 March 2023 where there were 3,946 passengers arriving at Lombok Airport. Meanwhile, the peak of departures occurred on Sunday, 5 March 2023 with 3,905 passengers departing.

As for aircraft movement, there was an increase of 6.5 percent during the WSBK 2023 period. From 1-6 March, there were 395 aircraft movements, or an average of 66 aircraft movements per day. While in February 2023, there were only an average of 62 aircraft movements per day.

“We are grateful that the entire passenger service process at Lombok Airport during the WSBK 2023 period went well and smoothly. Therefore, I would like to express my appreciation and thank all relevant parties and stakeholders for their good coordination in jointly succeeding in this international event,” added Rahmat Adil Indrawan.

For information, the WSBK 2023 logistics are scheduled to depart from Lombok Airport on Thursday, March 9, 2023, using Silkway West Airlines. This Boeing 747-400F cargo plane will transport WSBK 2023 logistics to Heydar Aliyev Airport, Azerbaijan.
