AMLAPURA – The change in weather from rainy to hot has caused mosquito larvae to grow, resulting in many cases of dengue fever in Karangasem Regency. In the first quarter, the number of dengue fever cases reached hundreds.

The Head of the Karangasem Regency Health Office, I Gusti Bagus Putra Pertama, revealed on Monday (27/3) that in the first quarter of 2023, there were 175 cases of dengue fever recorded by the Karangasem Health Office. “Especially in March, there have been 49 cases. And the number could still increase since the third month has not ended,” he said.

Pertama also added that in order to prevent the spread of dengue fever, his office has taken preventive measures. They have conducted fogging and activated DBD (dengue fever) task forces in each village. “These task forces are expected to function to educate people in eradicating mosquito breeding sites,” he said.

He explained that so far there have been no cases of fatalities due to dengue fever. However, there are still around seven patients being treated for dengue fever in hospitals. “Hopefully, there won’t be any fatalities due to dengue fever,” he said. (Eka Prananda/Balipost).
