AMLAPURA – To realize balanced development towards the New Era of Karangasem according to the Vision “Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali,” the Karangasem Regency Government provides National Health Insurance through the National Health Insurance (JKN) scheme, which is an effort to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Currently, all residents of Karangasem have health insurance.

Bupati Karangasem, I Gede Dana, revealed that the National Health Insurance, hereinafter referred to as JKN, is a form of health protection to obtain health maintenance benefits and protection in fulfilling basic health needs provided to everyone.

The JKN is intended for the Karangasem community whose membership consists of Nonwage Recipients (PBPU) and Non-Workers (BP) with health services benefits in class III care rooms, which are determined by the Regent of Karangasem’s Decision. The financing is in the form of premium payments to Recipient of Premium Assistance (PBI) participants, at FKTP facilities (Puskesmas, Clinics), and hospitals that cooperate with the BPJS.

“Now, all residents of Karangasem are covered by JKN BPJS Kesehatan. Because this is a basic need, as the government, we are making various efforts to ensure that all residents of Karangasem can be protected by JKN. Now, it’s about improving health services starting from Puskesmas to hospital services,” he said.

Gede Dana said that the UHC percentage has now reached 98.02%, with the number of membership segments reaching 520,788 people. The Karangasem Regency Government’s achievement of UHC received an award from the Central Government through the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Prof. Muhadjir Effendi, with a UHC Award and a certificate of appreciation on March 14th, 2023, in Balai Sudirman, Tebet, South Jakarta.
